Christmas Decorations Spectacular Part I

The home tours this weekend were such fun.  Here are the first of a series of pictures I'd like to share with you.   I hope you will be inspired to try and recreate something similar in your own holiday decorating this year.

I may try this one.  Cloves in fruit--always a classic.  It was on a limestone kitchen island.

Doesn't this garland make you sigh!  Doesn't it say, "Come in, sit by the fire, let's talk and have some cider".  This is a 1925 Norman Revival style home.

I seemed to see a fair amount of complimentary colors this year--not the usual contrasting red and green.  Most were like this example of orange/copper and red.

This lamp post is from the same house as the two pictures shown above.  The two ribbons are red and copper.

Here is a backyard shot from a 1934 Hollywood Regency styled home.  Everything was white, even the pickled floors.  Decorations were all white, silver and pale green.

Festive Weekend Ahead

Look what I saw this morning!  Oh, how amazingly beautiful!  Preparations are well under way for what looks like a glorious Christmas.  We are celebrating the birth of The King you know!

Several churches in town have a Christmas Home Tour this weekend.  I hope to dazzle your eyes with the images next week.  Until then,  have a wonderful weekend everybody!

I have a Thing for a Pretty Table

Every year, a local church has a Christmas preparations party showcasing great recipes, floral ideas and my favorite, table settings! Here are a few tablescapes for you to enjoy.

Look, the charger is a serving tray.  Each place setting was different on this table.

I'd love to see your tables this season!

A New Award for a Beloved Blogger

If you aren't a reader of Pearls and Grace, my dear friends, you are missing out on a blessing.  Our sweet P&G is celebrating one year of blogging by sharing her heart.  I can't tell you all how much richer my life has been because I have read her posts.  Doesn't that sound crazy--someone's life being enriched by a blog?  It's true.

In creating this new award, I thought about what Pearls and Grace does for so many of us.  P&G reminds us that God loves us "warts and all".  We don't have to be perfect to be a perfect child of God.  Wow.  I don't know about you, but I can use that reminder any time.

For you my dear friend, Pearls and Grace, I present with love and admiration the
Pearl of Great Price Award

Advent is Here!

Today is the first Sunday of the Advent season.  It's a wonderful time of anticipation for the celebration of Christmas.  We always try to make our own wreath for the kitchen or dining room table.  Do you have an advent wreath in your home?

Also, I came across the Advent Conspiracy" several days ago.  It's my understanding that the organization that produced this video is promoting clean water.  The message sent is a great one.  Please watch and consider your attitude in readying yourself for Christmas.

I can't wait to hear about what you are doing to prepare yourself for the great season that is upon us.  Do you have special china that you save just for the holidays?  What about family traditions of hanging your stockings?   Any movies that you just have to watch?  Food you must eat?  Tell me all about it.

Christmas House

There may be a Granny sighting here today...
It's the Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles Christmas House.  I am thinking about touring it today.   Have any of you been?  It looks like fun.  The website has links to the designers sites.  Style Court has discussed it in several posts.  Now I'm really tempted.
