When I daydream of an English garden, this is one image that comes to mind. This is actually just outside of Chicago, IL. Another pleasing surprise is that the lot only measures 80' by 100'. Apparently, good things do come in small packages!

What elements have you brought into your garden? Were you inspired by your grandmother's garden or an exotic vacation to far away lands? Tell me about it or better yet, email me a picture!
Wow! That is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis garden is beautiful and often the most lovely gardens are the small ones. I live on a farm and think of the olive trees as my garden so it has a natural and rugged beauty...xv
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful photo and really does remind me of home, I have been looking for an inspiration picture for my side garden and I think I have just found it, thank you granny smith, Kathy.
ReplyDeleteOMG that is such a stunning place. You just know it will also looks as good inside.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I wanted to let you know that I haven't fallen off the face of the earth...just needed a break to smell the roses. I'll let you know when I return.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in southern Oklahoma where magnolias were everywhere. Here in fickle Zone5b I have planted magnolias (sometimes turned freakish by late storms), Cherokee dogwoods in honor of my Cherokee great grandmother, cuttings from my father's honeysuckle, fragrant roses in memory of my great aunt. I am being held hostage north of the Mason-Dixon but my garden isn't.
ReplyDeletePerfect. I wish I had a garden. I will one day..when the girls are a bit older.
ReplyDeletexxxxx me

I have been inspired by so many gardens. One in particular was at a lovely old country house in Scotland called Ladyburn. The gardens were all lovely but the kitchen garden with its narrow winding pathway, aubergines and pumpkins interspersed with flowers and vines....well, that one stole my heart. I now have a bit of my garden done in much the same way, as my wee homage to Scotland.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful!! You WOULD think it was in England! There are some amazing gardens over here and pbv take decades to cultivate. Btw - great to hear I have a kindred fogey spirit out there! Hug!
ReplyDeleteThat looks astonishingly like somewhere in England (she says while looking out the window). It looks cosy and dreamy and yet neat and aloof.
ReplyDeleteOh the proper cream tea I would host in this garden. And being a china nut too it would take a while to pick the plates...never matching the setting beside of course.
ReplyDeleteA buddy of mine in Chicago thinks she knows where this is & is going on a scouting trip..... I'll get you the details if she succeeds.
Their garden is a bit bigger than mine, but this photo just gave me some great ideas about how to fit in a few more flowers among my vegetables! (I have an edible landscape). I think I will plant a few more larkspur and stock seeds underneath my peach trees tomorrow!
