Gone to the Animals

Anyone care to join me for a leisurely chat in this room?  This sofa is so inviting.

Doesn't this sitting area look so comfortable and inviting?  Wouldn't you know it--it is in the home of Oprah's hair stylist--and now designer/decorator.

The entire grouping is put together quite well, in my opinion.  Although, I like things to be a bit calmer--no wallpaper or fringed sofa apron.  I do think that overall, for a new installation, the room appears "collected" as if it had been assembled over time.

Is this a room for you?  Do you want or have a "gallery" wall--or is that too busy for your taste?

Tell me you thoughts.

  4. Yes to everything you said. I adore the wall gallery (ponies! puppies!) and the coziness, but it is just too busy for my taste otherwise. I'd take down the plates & get a simpler, un-fringed sofa, for starters.

  6. I love gallery walls and think they are a fantastic use of space and art or photos, but, we don't have one. We have this perfect wall in our living room, but, it's currently housing a large 16x20 photo that my mom took of the Grand Tetons, and I just cannot bring myself to move it. I have considered doing the entire wall with smaller rustic, mountain photos (my house kind of has a rustic feel to it on the inside), but, it hasn't happened yet... Maybe that's a summer goal... Hm...

  7. Love a gallery wall! But prefer a painted wall to wallpaper, personally!

  8. This is beautiful - quite anglo-indian? I do like gallery walls that evolve over time - I think they add so much character to a house!

  9. I like the overall "cozy" feeling however I could never live with the entire ensemble but would love to take pieces of it like the wall art, plate rack, toile coffee table.

  10. I'm with you on the fringe. Love the idea of an amassed collection of sporting art over time, hung in a cozy corner of my country house.
Sadly, I lack both the collection and the house.
    Something to work on!

  13. Completely charming! Curled up on that sofa with good book, a couple of dogs sleeping at my feet, a rainy afternoon and a glass of something cool....the perfect afternoon.

  14. I would just love this room in my Scottish life-if I had one.
I adore all things Scottish, English, French and Preppy-quite a mix!!!

  15. I love it however I would do a grouping of larger works of art, probably a focal center original on canvas and then two others flanking it.
