Tags aren't just for packages!

I've been tagged by  The Rauths
I'm supposed to tell you 6 random things about me.

Here are the "rules."

1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post these six rules on your blog.
3. Write 6 random things about yourself.
4. Tag 6 people at the end of your post and link to them.
5. Let each person you have tagged know by leaving a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is posted.

Well, let's see:
1.  I can write backwards with my non-dominate hand.  Freaky, I know.  I must be borderline ambidextrous or something.

2.  I canceled my cable.  I am now the biggest fan of APPLE TV.  If you haven't looked into it, DO.  You'll save money, have no commercials, and watch only what you want to watch.  For example, I saw the first episode of the new season of MAD MEN--and now have it on my Apple TV--and can watch Don and Betty Draper again and again!

3.  I have a very old chocolate labrador.  Seeing my dog decline in his old age is much more depressing than I ever thought it would be.   Dogs are such a constant in our lives.  In this case 12 years and counting.

4.  I'm addicted to coffee in the morning and sweet tea in the afternoon.  I just can't get through my day with out them--and believe it or not, the tea is always decaffeinated.  I'm a purist too--no artificial sweeteners will do.  I need sugar!

5.  Unlike Mrs. Rauth, I hate to do the dishes.  I can't stand the thoughts of touching dirty dishes.  I ALWAYS wear gloves when I HAVE to do them.  I sometimes go to the extreme of not cooking, just to avoid the clean up.  Plus, who wants to mess up that beautiful, clean kitchen

6.  I'm a bit obsessive about china (yet, I still don't like to wash it!).  I have numerous sets that I change out seasonally or with the theme of a party, etc.  I've gone a bit over the top and really need to edit.

Now for the six that I am going to tag:
1.  Troy at Good Home, it's like we are old friends--and he's an amazing Southern writer!
2.  Copy Cat Chic, oh, so fun.  I wish I could shop and compare like this one can.
3.  Style Court, love it!  That's all there is to say.
4.  Monograms and Manicures, who doesn't just love this one?
5.  Southern Inspirations, a gal after my own Southern design heart!
6.  The Inspired Room, yes, I am SO inspired.

So, what are a few of your favorite things?  Please leave a comment and tell me your three favorite fashion items.  (We'll talk about interiors in another post.)

What better way to get the ball rolling than for me to start out by showing you some of my fashion faves:

                                                                             pearls

HRH The Home Queen

Straight from the UK, for all of my Anglophile buddies-
Go to myDeco.com and take the design profile quiz.  It's fun and interesting.  Leave me comments describing your style.  I'm a "Home Queen"  I wonder if many of you are a match!  Here are my results:

HOME QUEEN
You have an almost theatrical approach to interior design, dressing up rooms just as you yourself would for a glamorous night out (or in). The look is opulent and luxurious, but can be equally sexy and sophisticated - just like you!

Living Room
You are drawn to all things that combine beauty with adventure. This is a high-octane, unabashed, sensual look that encompasses everything that's luxurious, voluptuous and curvaceous. Think rich fabrics, textured materials and glossy surfaces. While glamour makes a big, bold statement, it also smacks of total comfort and fun. Choosing accessories with a classical influence will give the room a sophistication it might otherwise have lacked, and will confirm your style credentials. Pastel pinks and yellows give the room a fresh, feminine feel, while shapely and harmonious prints add a polished sense of style. After pottering about in the garden, your living room's somewhere to put up your feet and take a well-earned rest.

Bedroom
Your bedroom has that classic look that never goes out of style. Sleep is fundamentally important to our well being. Clean, fresh air can truly aid sleep, but so, too, does a well-made bed and the best mattress you can afford. Touch is an important issue in the bedroom, from crisp, linen sheets to wool or even sheepskin underfoot. Elegance and relative simplicity are keynotes in your bedroom, using earthy, rustic colours and textures to create a sense of harmony with the natural world.

Dining Room
You're a paragon of style, no-holds-barred entertainer. At home, you have a classic dining area that's perfect for formal or glamorous dinner parties. It's a tried and trusted look that will never go out of style. Carver chairs take up space and so are best limited to top and tail of the dining table, and they need not even match the dining chairs down either side. Though expensive, a bone china dinner service really does set off the table to magnificently and can detract from other compromises if budget is an issue.

Home Office
Who says paying the bills can't be glamorous? Working from home is an increasingly popular solution to the challenge of bringing up a young family and making ends meet. A dedicated home office - even if it's just the corner of a room - will help keep you focused and separate work from hectic family life. Even if your desk is quite utilitarian, you can use colour and texture to add a touch of glamour and pizzazz.

Conclusion
Glorious and gorgeous, your home affirms your love of life.

I was tagged--and you may be next!

(Photos from Google Images)

I have to admit,  I'm such a baby blogger, or "greenie", in my case.   I wasn't exactly sure what tagging meant until I visited with my "tagger" Kappa Prep over at her adorable blog Monograms and Manicures.   Can I call you my "blog sister"?  I'm telling you, we were separated at birth!

Now, here are the rules:
1.  Link the person who tagged you and post the rules.
2.  Share 5 songs you like and are embarrassed to admit to others--and tell why you like it.
3.  Tag 5 others at the end and give a link to their blog.
4.  Let the other 5 know you've tagged them by leaving them a comment on their blog.

Here I go, ugh, this is so embarrassing!
1.  Paradise City, by Gun'n'Roses--can you believe it!  This one just makes me want to dance--and not my usual ballet!

2.  Mother, by Danzig--It's just his voice--makes you think of Jim Morrison.

3.  Cabaret, sung by Liza Minellli--I admit, I belt this one out loud when I hear it.  I think I secretly want to be on Broadway.

4.  Hit Me Baby, One More Time, a Britney Spears one--oh, gee, did I just admit to that one?  Actually, the song "has a great beat and you can dance to it".

5.  Butterfly Kisses--I cried the first time I heard it--but then, it was so overplayed, I wanted to scream.  The story was sweet, though.

Now for these five:  Tag, You're it!  Visit these blogs when you can.  They are all unique and inspiring.

An American Treasure

For my blog buddy KappaPrep, at Monograms and Manicures--Art History!

Want to be amazed and have history come to life?
I you are at all are interested in American Art, you MUST visit the Westervelt Warner Museum . You won't believe the quality AND quantity of art housed at this rather small private museum. Imagine my surprise to find original Mary Cassatt's hanging on the restroom walls!  It is just beautiful!  I really found myself speechless upon visiting.

A New Magazine about Souther Beauty--Inside and Out!

Some of you may find Southern Beauty Magazine just the kind of read you can't put down.  I like the fact that it's not just a "fluff" magazine.  There's a section called "Soul" every issue.
