Anyone Hungry?

AprilFoodDay
Don't you just love the thoughts of sitting down to a delicious meal? I sure do.

How many people can't do that these days? More than you think. I was very surprised that at a local church food bank. There were church members taking advantage of the services. They used to be the ones stocking the shelves and the freezer.

I think the blogging world is pretty amazing. Want to see what a community of internet folks can do to feed America?

Everyday, the television is filled with dire reports about the current economic climate and many use the blogging community to take a break from the constant bad news. However, we can not ignore the fact that friends, and even some blogger friends, have lost their jobs because of the recession.

People who never had a worry in the world now have to think about where their next meal is coming from. People who never would have dreamt that they would need help are now showing up at the local food banks. There is not enough food being donated to meet the rise in demand. There is not enough money to buy the food for the food banks.

Former advertising executive, Chris Cox, the editor of Easy & Elegant Life, and fundraising professional, Meg Fairfax Fielding, editor of Pigtown*Design, teamed up to create a blogger action day on April 1, 2009, which is being called April Food Day – Bloggers Fighting Hunger.
We are going to do it again this year!

Please consider making a contribution to Feeding America (formerly Second Harvest), a national food bank with 200 member banks across the country. Every dollar contributed provides seven meals or 10 pounds of food. A gift of $25 provides 75 meals.

Always in Style

What's always in style?  Manners-sincere, plain manners.

The simple gesture of being polite makes all the difference .

Take a moment out of your day to show your appreciation.  It's easy.

Have a few blossoms in your garden?  Snip a few and take them to someone--unexpectedly.

Sometimes it just an expression on our face that will change someone.
Have you looked in the mirror lately?

Thank you, kind readers, for all of the joy you bring to my day.
How I wish I could send all of you a few blooms.
I appreciate each and every one of you.

What are your ideas for spreading kindness?
How have you experienced graciousness?

I think the blogging world is pretty amazing. Want to see what a community of internet folks can do to feed America? I'm game!

Everyday, the news is filled with the dire news about the current economic climate and a lot of us use the blogging community to take a break from the constant drumbeat. People who never had a worry in the world now have to think about where their next meal is coming from. People who never would have dreamt that they would need help are now showing up at the local food banks. But when they get there, the shelves are bare. There is not enough food being donated to meet the sudden rise in demand. There is not enough money to buy the food for the food banks. There is not a general understanding that food banks need help to help fill their shelves.

Former advertising executive, Chris Cox, the editor of Easy & Elegant Life, and fundraising professional, Meg Fairfax Fielding, editor of Pigtown*Design, have teamed up to create a blogger action day on April 1, 2009, which we are calling April Food Day – Bloggers Fighting Hunger.

We are asking our fellow bloggers to create a post about this project and ask each of you to make a contribution to Feeding America (formerly Second Harvest), a national food bank with 200 member banks across the country.

Every dollar contributed provides seven meals or 10 pounds of food. A gift of $25 provides 75 meals. If we all post together and ask our readers to make a contribution on April 1, we can make a huge difference in our communities.

Life's Luxury-dear friends!

Blog friends, I'd like to take a moment (or a post in this case) to thank a couple of "real life" friends.

Dear ones, you know who you are...
Thank you for making my birthday so special.  YOU are the luxuries in life, my dearest friends!

a few luxuries that you kindly gave--that remind me of YOU!

A soft soothing Sferra throw--"Cotton, when brushed, undergoes a transformation that gives it a plush, alluring texture this side of heaven (heaven, interesting choice of words, humm, this definitely makes me think of my friend). This throw blends soft color with cream in a herringbone weave and finishes it with a twisted, natural fringe."

Now would you look at these flowers!  Can you believe how beautiful they are?  I am so impressed that the pictures came out as good as they did.  They were sitting on the kitchen table with the sun streaming in upon them.  These flowers are from my real "kitchen table friend".  She is the one I sit in the kitchen with and yap away.  We drink THE BEST coffee and talk about EVERYTHING under the sun!

I'd love to go on and on about the special "real" people in my life--but, they need their privacy.  Now, here's the funny part:  I'll find out if they are FINALLY reading my blog!

Gratitude

My cup is overflowing!

The kindness shown to me by all of you fellow bloggers is just unbelievable!  I am overwhelmed with your well wishes on my birthday.  You all have proven how meaningful a kind word can be.  Thank you all very much!

A most heartfelt thanks goes to Pearls and Grace.  How this precious lady gives from her heart is such a gift from God!  I had no idea that simply reading a blog, commenting and emailing would change my life--and so for the better.

I had a rather full weekend and hope that during the week I can share tid bits of it with you.  It was beautiful and I hope yours was too!

Colossians 2 (NIV)
6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

In the Dog House?

La Petite Maison Designer Doghouse
Ever wanted to put him "in the dog house"?  My husband sent me the funniest email the other day.  It's actually a mini-movie/advertisement.  Our anniversary is just around the corner (and Christmas), so I guess gift giving was on his mind.  Apparently, some fellows just don't get "what a girl wants".

Now, in the literal sense of the phrase:  The dog house pictured above belongs to Rachel Hunter's pooch.  If you are interested in having your home replicated for your dog simply make your request know to La Petite Maison.  They make play houses too!
