Mirror, Mirror on the wall?

(Country Living)

Mirrors are an amazing thing. They can be absolutely beautiful or absolutely tacky. It's all in the placement. Don't you think?

I can certainly think of applications where mirror is a very bad idea.
Totally tacky in my opinion.

The image below is quite nice.
(Anyone know the source? I'd like to give them credit.)

Here's one of my all time favorite room images.
The use of mirror here is lovely.

The number one rule of thumb in using mirrors:
Make sure it is reflecting something beautiful!

Anyone using mirror in an unexpected way? Tell me about it.

Also, I hope you have had the most wonderful Mardi Gras season!

  3. Ah! Fantastic mirrors (minus the tacky one, of course). All my mirrors are pretty darn traditional but I like them that way, I guess!!

  7. I love mirrors and not for the viewing purpose but for the light that they reflect , I feel as if they are like having another window. I am always asked if it is alright to have more than one mirror in a room, I vote YES!! Kathysue

  8. Can't remember where I read it but when you put a mirror opposite or adjacent to a window, it's as if you have another window because of the reflection. I've always remembered that. :)

  9. Would love to hear of some sources for mirrors. Have been searching for the perfect one for the powder bath for months without much luck. The walls are chocolate so I'm thinking gilded wood. Any suggestions? 1st Dibs is too expensive.
