Computer + Coffee + Toddler = NOT GOOD

So, not good.
Well, the picture says it all.  Yes, my little one poured an entire cup of coffee (cream and sugar) all over the computer keyboard.  Let's just say, it was a lesson in patience!   There was no response to the computer for about 16 hours.  After following the instructions of tech support, still nothing.  Following much stress and admitted, excitement, over the thoughts of a new computer...I simply tried again.  I plugged it in and surprise!  The computer is working!  Yeah!  All of the keys aren't properly working--backspace just won't BACKSPACE!  I haven't tried to burn a disc yet.  I'm a bit anxious about that, considering the quantity of java that flowed from it earlier!

In the mean time, look what I found online.  A waterproof, roll-up keyboard!  I think this is a great idea.  I thought you all might be fond of the color too!
In the event you don't hear from me in a timely manner, you'll have a good idea of why.  Cross your fingers that the computer is back to normal.  Maybe the caffeine gave it a boost!

  2. Oh no!!! Its happenned to me before as well - it was the sugar that rendered it un-usable - it crunched every time I tried to use it! BTW - a vat of 'coup'... oh yes.... I am usually typing that quick (to stop toddler knocking my coffee over my laptop), I make tons of ridiculous typos, and never re-read of course! Oh well! Hope you get your keyboard fixed!

  3. Oh no!! I hope you get that all taken care of. I've never had coffee on the keyboard, but, one time I had my laptop sitting open on my desk and a mug just randomly fell from the shelf above and shattered onto my laptop, breaking off many keys on it's way. I had to get a plug in keyboard. It was not cute and pink!!

  4. Yes, I have been there! Let us know how that waterproof key board works. I am looking for a electic shock keyboard that keeps my children's hands off my computer.

  8. It is better to take as many covers off of your laptop as you feel comfortable with doing so. Remove the the hard drive, battery (remove the battery immediatley)then cdrom and anything else that comes off. flush with water.. Do not submerge! Just rinse as quickly as possible. Sounds crazy but it is better than sticky, sugar filled coffee.. Once everything has had a couple of days to dry out give it a shot. I am a certified professional when it comes to spilling my coffee... I have done this numerous times.
